UpTowne Recovery

UPTOWNE RECOVERY is dedicated to empower and inspire people to be mindful of their health and wellness. Cryotherapy can be beneficial in the health and recovery of individuals. Our goal is to provide the best care in Cryotherapy by individualizing your experience.

Phase 1 Remove
During a 2 to 3 minute session at -240F, blood vessels in your skin's surface and muscle tissue constrict, forcing blood away from the peripheral tissues and toward your core. In the core, the body's natural filtration system works to remove toxins and inflammatory properties of the blood.
Phase 2 Replenish
After exiting the cryochamber, filtered blood flows back to the peripheral tissues. Now cleaner and enriched with oxygen, nutrients and enzymes -- your blood warms and enriches skin and muscles, and range of motion increases.
Phase 3 Recover
Over the next 48 hours the process of restoration occurs and the body returns to a former and better state or condition with reduced pain and inflammation, and increased energy levels. Recovery times from strenuous workouts and injury are improved and shortened.

What We Offer

Cryotherapy is the practice of using cold temperatures to promote health and wellness. Upon entering the Cryosense your body will experience air super cooled down. This drives the body into a temporary survival mode causing the blood to rush to your core for 3 minutes or less. Then when entering room temperature blood surges through your body cleaning toxins and creating a rejuvenated feeling.

Whole Body Cryotherapy was first used in Japan in 1978 to treat rheumatic diseases, where it was studied and established as a powerful treatment for pain and inflammation associated with a number of many chronic conditions. Over the next three decades it quickly spread to Europe and other countries as it became widely known for its broad range of benefits. It is now becoming popular throughout the United States.

NormaTec Compression Therapy

NormaTec’s patented Sequential Pulse Technology sets it apart from any other massage compression devices by synergistically combining three distinct massage techniques - Pulsing, Gradient Hold, and Distal Release - to speed the body’s recovery process.

NormaTec Pulse Recovery NormaTec Pulse Recovery
  • Pulsing action of the equipment mimics the muscle pump of the arms or legs, greatly enhancing the movement of fluid and metabolites out of the limbs after intense use.
  • The Gradient hold utilizes constant pressure to keep the body’s fluids from being forced to one end of the limb while the Pulsing continues.
  • Distal Release prevents any backflow of fluids by releasing the hold pressures in each zone as soon as possible allowing each limb to gain maximal rest time without a significant pause between compression cycles.

Frequently Asked Questions
Questions / Answers

Yes, it is cold but not painful. The temperatures reach downward to -240F.

No, while in the Cryosense Chamber you will only be wearing socks, slippers and gloves, and men also wear briefs. This allows for 90% of your skin to be exposed to the hyper cool air. It is fine to leave your hair down and have on face lotion or makeup. We just ask that you do not apply lotion or any moisture to your skin an hour before your session. No jewelry or metals can be worn below the neck.

The first appointment with UPTOWNE RECOVERY can take anywhere between 15-20 minutes. We like to fully educate our clients and help with any questions they may have. After the first appointment, sessions typically take 5-7 minutes.

Because the effects of cryotherapy are different for every client, it will depend entirely on how your body reacts to the session. Typically, most clients feel an increase of energy and flexibility and a decrease of inflammation within the first few minutes or hours. Some clients feel the first impact the next morning after a sleep cycle. Many report noticing a deeper sleep and feeling reduced pain and inflammation the following 48-72 hours.

No, there is nothing you have to avoid and nothing you should do after your session. Exposure to extreme cold temperatures warms the muscle tissue. This allows our clients to continue their normal tasks throughout the day, typically with more energy.

Questions / Answers

No, unless conducted by an untrained technician or if you have a contraindication. The cooling agent, nitrogen, is in 78% of the air we breathe every day. UPTOWNE RECOVERY’s certified technicians running your sessions are fully trained on safety and operational protocols and are capable of stopping the session if you should want to get out before your session is done. Likewise, there is no lock on the door of the Cryosense Chamber so you can step out at any time.

We use nitrogen to cool the Cryosense Chamber to -240F. It is transformed into hyper cool air, which is what cools the chamber and allows it to get into “cryo temperatures.”

Yes, it is. The length of the session maxes at 3 minutes. This short period of time does not allow your body to reach hypothermia.

This is very dependent on what you are using cryotherapy for. Most clients who are using it for overall health and wellness receive a cryotherapy session 1-2 times a week. Clients who have an injury, inflammation, and aches and pains receive cryotherapy sessions 2-4 times a week.

Yes, a client under the age of 14 cannot use cryotherapy. The client cannot have high blood pressure, have or have had seizures, have a severe case of Raynaud’s syndrome, be pregnant, have any existing heart issue, have any major vascular issues, have clots or have had a brain aneurism, have any severe reaction to cold or have had a stroke. Other contraindications exist for which each client should fully read the waiver.

Questions / Answers

No, we do not accept insurance policies. You can always ask your insurance provider if they can reimburse you, but we do not accept insurance for payment. Many of our clients use their health savings account cards just like a credit card.

Memberships allow access to multiple modalities at UPTOWNE RECOVERY. Our unlimited membership include unlimited sessions of CryoSense Cryotherapy and NormaTec Compression Therapy.

At UPTOWNE RECOVERY we have an exclusive session that can be shared by family members.

If you notice you are not seeing the same results as when you first started to do cryotherapy sessions, we recommend taking 2 weeks off and then starting over with 1-3 sessions a week. Your body will never become completely used to the effects of extreme cold exposure but the results will seem less intense with prolonged overuse.
